Caution: Not All Words Are Truth

You may think some poems
are directed at you
but I’ll let you know,
it’s not completely true.

These are just words
that come from my heart
and some don’t make sense
for my life, they are just fill-ins
to make better art.

So when I say,
Don’t lose your chance with me
I’m not really talking to you–
in all honesty,
I may never stop wanting you.

So pick and choose
what words are meant for you.
I’ll give you a hint
which ones might be true–

Ones where I say
my feelings for you;
I’m here in the stars, sitting with the moon–

So just keep smiling for me
the way you always do,
and I’ll keep writing poems
inspired by a lovely you.
